  • Bubbles Cosplay

Bubbles was my most difficult character to cosplay simply because I had to wear blonde hair. I always believe that my skin with blonde hair doesn’t mash well. I found my wig on Amazon. I went to Amazon and shopped around for some blonde front lace wigs. I was debating if I was going to go with the cheapest option, which was about 15/20 bucks. A more medium option would be looking about 50 to 60 bucks. On the higher end the wigs were going to be over $100. I picked a 50/60-dollar wig. I loved the way the wig felt, but I hate how it looked on me. Hey! I need to complete the look. Next, I was trying to figure out a make up look. I started searching on Pinterest, which is the main source I like to visit. I get my ideas sometimes during a Google search. Instagram is another place look for make up looks. I was looking at blue makeup themes and natural themes. I eventually settled on a blue eyeshadow look. I tried to do a little bit of contour and highlight for my face. Since my blue eyes was really loud and intense, I opted for my natural lip color. I feel like if I put on any other color lipstick/lip-gloss it would be too much. Another reason why my eyes were kind of intense was because I got blue contacts. I found the contacts from a website called Lensweets (you can use the discount on the Discount section of the website). I decided to wear blue, because Bubbles have blue eyes. However, when I put the contacts in, I’m not going to lie, I was kind of nervous. The contacts seemed like a bluish greenish color, but when you look at the photos and reels it works perfectly. I would call it an unexpected Success. As for my outfit for the photo shoot, I was going for a Star Wars and Powerpuff Girl combination. I was looking at photos of different Star Wars characters. I noticed people wearing different white cream outfits. I thought these colors and outfits would be perfect for Bubbles, because she’s blue and has blonde hair. I found a blue light saber on Amazon. However, it wasn’t that bright. So, during the photo shoot, I had to use the photographer’s light stick and we were able to change the light to blue. The light stick gave the amount of light we needed to do the Star Wars look. During the shoot I was trying to portray fighting or getting ready to fight. To catch some good shots, I am random with my poses. Sometimes the most awkward poses makes for a good photo. As for my reels and other short form videos I didn’t want to do my Star Wars look. I plan to make that decision for all of the Powerpuff Girls. I opted to do a closet cosplay with a blue dress that I already own. I felt like if I did the Star Wars and power puff combination for reels wouldn’t make sense for my audience. However, for the photoshoot it my concept was beautifully done in my opinion.

  • My Bathroom/Toliet Decor Idea

I recently moved into my new place. I been having trouble with setting up my bathroom, so I came up with this idea. I brought a 5-piece wicker basket set from Wayfair. I took the smallest basket in the set and filled it with wet wipes. Simply because you need a good wet wipe for, you know. I put extra toilet paper rolls, which is a good practice to have just in case you run out of the current roll you’re using. Lastly, I’m a lady, so I filled the basket with feminine hygiene products. These are the main essential things I typically need. If there is something you would have done differently, please let me know. Other than that, thank you for watching. Go out there and have a fabulous day! Video can be found here! https://youtu.be/1EKXtlHfK_w

  • You're a Mean One... Ms. Grinch

I bought some Grinch items and I did a review on my YouTube channel. Check it out! I went ahead and found a green straight wig off of Amazon and I washed it and conditioned it afterwards. I straighten it with my flat iron, because I have a theory it makes synthetic hair manageable. Then afterwards I debated if I was going to curl the green wig or leave it straight, but I decided to leave it straight. The wig can not hold a curl. I was fine with it, because the Grinch’s hair is straight. If I was gonna go for curly look, I should’ve gotten like a textured green wig, which I thought about after the fact. When I do the Grinch later, I’m going to go that route, so stay tune for my next Grinch cosplay next. Next, on the docket... There was a bunch of Grinch prosthetics on Etsy. However, the prosthetics that had the full Grinch face they were sold out at the time. I bought my prosthetic back in October, which was bad timing, because everyone was probably buying their Halloween costumes, so that was a mistake on my part. However, I was able to find a face prosthetic that gave me that signature who from Whoville nose. I decided I’ll just get green face paint to paint my actual face and paint the prosthetic to blend in with the make up my body. I decided to go with Morphe cosmetics for my body paint. I decided to get a green, dark green, and yellow body paint from Morphe. I started with the lighter green and used a flat brush, wetting the brush, and then rubbing the brush in the paint. Once the paint was activated I proceeded to paint my face. The yellow and dark green face paints are cream paints. In order to do my contour and my highlight, the yellow and the green face paints were my best options. I use the cream once I decide to go with the cream-based, because I wanted to blend my contour and highlight the best way possible I strongly believe the other paint would’ve been easy to blend for me, because I’m not a body paint professional. I blended out the harsh lines with a small blending makeup brush. Next thing I got from Amazon were green fur pants for my grinch bottoms. It was easy to find. The only thing I don’t like is that the bottom of the pants has white fur I wish it was green all the way down to the bottom. The waistband is very stretchy. However, I got a size medium, so if I ever gained weight, I have no room left to grow in the pants have a inner lining that doesn’t make the pants really stretchy. I also found the Grinch hands from Amazon in there one size fits all and I fit the gloves perfectly. The fur hands matched the fur on the pants amazingly. I was worried at first, because they were from two different companies. With my Grinch cosplay one thing I was debating was making Grinch, sexy or goofy, or like the movie. I didn’t know which direction to take, but I didn’t see a lot of sexy cosplays, so I decided to go with a sexy version. I went back on Amazon and found a cute Santa outfit for women. Unfortunately, the material is not as stretchy as I want it to be. I got a small/medium size based off of the suggestion the Amazon app gave me, which is fine (I guess). However, I know that if I ever gain weight in the future I definitely will not be able to fit that Santa outfit comfortably. As for my shoot, I normally go to a photographer to capture my cosplay. Whatever, since I’m just getting settled with my job situation and other other matters I decided to take my own photos. When I take my photos I use my iPhone and I used the back camera, because it’s the most clearest picture. I did not have my personal ring light that I normally use, because it’s in storage right now, So, I had to use a different ring light that has a bright/cooler tone. Side note, when I use my personal ring light, I like to use warmer tones, because I like the way it makes my skin glow. With the light I used, in order to not have the harsh light, I faced the light to the wall. I do this to make the light bounce off the wall and give a subtle glow. I try to get my lighting as good as possible, because lighting makes your life easier in Photoshop. All and all I’m very satisfied with this current cosplay. I know some people may disagree with being a sexy Grinch, but I’m content with it. I always try to put a twist on any cosplay that I do. I feel like my Grinch was tastefully done, a definite look forward to doing a Grinch cosplay again. Of course, I want to change something else when I do it it could either be my hair the color of my cosplay the outfit who knows. I’m definitely forward to trying another Grinch version in the future. I hope that you like it if you want to watch my review of the Grinch items that I used the make up tutorial and a hair tutorial. Please feel free to watch my YouTube channel! I make sure to make my videos easy to understand. As always, if you have any suggestions or any constructive criticism, I will greatly appreciate that. Toodles!

  • It's My Birthday!

This cosplay was the most exciting one all year. I haven’t been excited about a cosplay like this. Typically, what I do and it’s around the summer time I think about what type of photoshoot I want for my birthday. I slacked off the previous year, so I wanted to get a head start and think about some ideas. Back in the summer I was stuck between either a 90s themed shoot or a Arabian night shoot. For some reason when I saw Nicki Minaj’s Super Freaky Girl music video, I thought to myself “what a perfect concept”. I love everything about the music video such as the storyline, outfits, hair, and colors. I just loved everything. It was so vibrant, colorful, and fun. It was something to see and I thought Nicki Minaj looked great. Believe it or not. I love Nicki Minaj. I’ve been a fan of her since high school, and I’ve been obsessed with her style ever sense when I saw her music videos. I try to make sure I find a way to mimic her hairstyles, because that’s one of the few ways I was able to express myself when I was younger, which was through my hair. First things first I had to see what can I do to achieve my Nicki Minaj look. What I did first was I had to go find an outfit. I looked through a variety of different websites variety. I spent hours looking for what I had in mind, and I eventually settled on a purple bodysuit. After that, I had a build on that bodysuit I went and found some gold body chains from Amazon and I decided to have some across my waist and around my waist and attach them to my thighs. She has gold straps in what are the scenes of super freaky girl, so I had to find some gold links that I can take apart and adjust to my liking. So, I eventually found some gold chains that I turned into straps on my purple bodysuit. I was slightly frustrated, because the gold that was around my waist and my thighs were a different color than the ones on my strap. I later got over it, because I can easily calm down the gold colors in Photoshop. Next Nicki had pink glasses in the video that I loved and adored, and I found a pair on Amazon. They’re typically not the style I go for, but since this is for my cosplay and my birthday shoot at the same time, I decide to take a plunge. When I tried the babies on the first time, I freaking fell in love with them. They were adorable, and I can definitely see myself wearing them again on like a vacation somewhere. Next, I had to find a pink wig. There’s a picture of Nicki Minaj that I saw and she was leaving a place and she had a half up ponytail and the hair was curled out and she had a slick bang. I found a pink wig on Amazon that was front lace, because I need it to part my hair in the front in order to sweep it up. I got it long, because I’d rather have hair that’s too long, so if I cut it too much or I don’t cut it enough I should be good. Next, Nicki had long pink boots in the music video, which I loved. However, you’re gonna notice that her boots are almost thigh length and they’re all pink. I decided to find some similar, but I fell in love with these pink booties I got from Dolls Kill and I love them. Unfortunately, I think they are sold out, because when I got the booties they were on sale. You can try to find them somewhere else, but I believe that they’re gone now. During my preparation for this cosplay, I had to study how she does her make up on my off days from work. I practice putting on the makeup, because I want to look good. I was so last minute with this idea, that I was lucky to find a photographer. I decided to go with photography Chuck Rare to help me with this shoot. I trust him, I’ve seen a lot of his work on social media, so I knew he can get the job done in a short period of time and bring my vision to life. Also, this was gonna be our first official time working together, so I was nervous and excited at the same time. if you want a breakdown of how I did my Nicki Minaj make up and my Nicki Minaj hair, please feel free to watch my YouTube tutorials. I’d really appreciate it. I also capture behind the scenes footage on my YouTube Channel. Toodles!!!

  • Asia Who from Whovile

I always wanted to be a who from Whoville. This holiday season was my dream come true. Believe it or not I’ve been thinking about doing a Who cosplay for a couple years now. I thought this time of year would be perfect, because I want to get into the holiday spirit. Typically, around the holiday season I feel like a Grinch. I don’t know why I feel that way, but I probably have to explore that later. When I think about a Who, I think about how happy they were in the Grinch movie, so I thought “Hey let’s go ahead and get some holiday cheer in my life”. First one thing I think about when I think of a Who in Whoville is their signature hair. I was debating if I was going to use my real hair, use extensions, or even a wig. Due to the timing of this cosplay I had to go with a wig, because I had to do my birthday shoot soon after. I always make sure when I do multiple cosplays in a month that my hair is wig ready. That typically means I would braid it down or putting it in a bun; which will be easy enough for me to slide a wig on. I washed and conditioned my wig. I put the wig on a mannequin head and made sure I pinned it down. I made middle part, because I wanted to make two bangs in the middle. After I made my middle part I made two triangles one on the left and one on the right side, because I want the bangs to fall down on both sides of my face. Then on the side of my wig, where my sideburns would be, I made one part on either side. I pinned the two bangs I made, and then I pinned the two sideburns I made to get them out of the way. For some reason I can’t part a wig with it on my head, so by using the mannequin head I was able to make clean parts. I took my wax stick and I slicked down the hair on my wig. Please note, put as much wax as you need depending on what style you’re going for. Next, I took my electric hot comb that I got from Amazon and I combed the hair to the back. I wanted my hair to be sleek as possible, because I need it to go in a high bun. I need it stretched as much as possible. Once I finished combing the hair back with the electric hot comb, I placed a wig on my head. I took an empty bottle a little 16- or 20-ounce bottle and put it on top of my head. I bent over to flip the wig over the bottle. Then I started to form a bun. I formed the hair around the bottle, so I can cover as much of the bottle as I can. I went ahead and tied the top of my bun with a hair tie. I made sure I placed my first hair tie around the neck of the bottle. Then I got a second hair tie to tie the hair above the neck of the bottle, so it be nice and snug after the bottle was secure in my wig. I went ahead and took my curling wand and curled my two bangs in the front, and then curl my two sideburns on the side. Lastly, since the Christmas tree was already decorated, I decided that I can pick some of the ornaments off the tree and stick them through my bun. I easily found one red flower, two gold flowers, a cranberry ornament, and a ornament ball to go on top. If you want to watch my hair step-by-step tutorial, please feel free to watch my YouTube video. Before I do my makeup, I make sure I wash and moisturize my face. Then I put makeup primer. Next, I installed the prosthetic nose on my face. The instructions on in adhesive said that I need to start on a clean canvas, and I need to apply to glue on my skin and on the prosthetic that I’m trying to glue. Once I did that I held the prosthetic down on my face. I didn’t put too much glue, because I want to use the prosthetic nose later on in the future. I definitely want to do another Who cosplay. Please note, I wasn’t sure if I would do a typical red or green holiday look or I would go for more purples and pink because it was gonna stand out a little bit more. I knew for sure that I didn’t like dramatic eyes. I just didn’t want to “freaky” or “unnatural”. I took my time with blending my eyeshadow colors. I don’t buy a lot of make up in general. Also, I am not a professional make up artist, but I try my best when I do my makeup. The palette that I used for my eyeshadow is by Urban Decay and the palette is called Elements. After I completed my eyeshadow, I did my eyebrows. I use black eyebrow liner for the bottom of my eyebrows to give myself a guide of how I’m going to fill them. Then I use a dark brown eyebrow liner to fill my eyebrows in. Next, do a concealer on my T-zone, my nose, under my eyes, and the bottom of my cheek bones. Next I was contemplating if I wanted to contour my face, but eventually decided to do by using Huda beauty - The Overachiever High Coverage Concealer. I use a little bit, because the color is really rich and dark. I didn’t want my makeup to be too harsh. After that I like to do by setting powder on my highlight zones on my face. If I want to do color on my cheeks, then I’ll find a blush to put on top of my cheeks, but I decided not to. Once my face is set, I’d like to set my face with my Urban Decay - Up All Night setting spray, which is my holy Grail product. If you want to watch my make up step-by-step, please feel free to watch my YouTube video breaking down. After I did my makeup and my hair, I put on the outfit that I got from Amazon. Please note that all of the ornaments used in my hair was from Hobby lobby. The Santa dress I got from Amazon was amazing. It is very soft it is stretchy and it made me feel confident, it is very short. I definitely will not be wearing it out in public, but since I was going to do a shoot in the comfort of my own home, I was OK with the dress. Next, I found some nude fishnet stockings that had rhinestones in it, and I absolutely loved it. I believe those stockings was my favorite purchase during this whole project. I did not buy any shoes for this cosplay, because I already owned a bunch of black heels. So, for this Who cosplay I was going to wear my black open toe ankle strap heels. Also, last minute I decided to buy a white shawl, because I remember back in the How The Grinch Stole Christmas movie one of the characters had a beautiful first shawl on and I decided that I want one for my concept. As for my shoot, I love to use certain photographers. However, during this time of year, I had no access to them. Plus, since I decided on his cosplay last minute, I had to make a quick decision, so I decided to take my own photos. What I typically do is I use the back camera of my iPhone and I use a ring light. Unfortunately, during this time I did not have my own ring light with me, so I use somebody else’s. The light is very harsh, and I could not adjust how strong the light was. So, I decided to face the ring light against the wall, so it can reflect the light back into the room for a softer light. The ring light that I had was bright harsh, and it was cool toned, so in order to make sure my picture turn out good I had to make that call. I decided to place my camera far as possible, because when I go in the photoshop I have freedom to edit, add, or take away anything that I need to to make the shot good. I’m pleased with the pictures and I like how my Who cosplay matched the tree and fireplace setting. I believe was really beautiful. Of course, I had a little touch of sexiness, which I thought I did pretty tastefully. I always like to have a little sexy, goofy, and fun with my cosplays. It was fun and a lot of work. Toodles!!!

  • Welcome to December! Upcoming Changes...

December blog Welcome to December which is my birthday month. I’m excited to share my who cosplay, my Grinch cosplay, and birthday shoot. I’m trying to keep my birthday shoot under wraps, because I want to be a surprise and I want my birthday theme to be a big deal. It’s going be a masterpiece. I’m currently working on a cosplay schedule for 2023. I’m not sure if I’m going to share exactly what I planned, because I don’t know why I have a feeling that if I say I’m gonna do I jinxed myself. I will not say anything. I write what I want to do down in a revisit it later. I want to talk about the change is coming with the website. The gallery should be finished either before or on my birthday, which is December 19. Next you should start seeing blog posts every one or two weeks apart. Lastly, as I figure out what style I want my website to be you may see changes on the website, so be warned On my Asia Mmkay YouTube channel, I’m going to start doing my podcast again. I’m going to start recording lifestyle blog so you can see my fitness journey, my skin journey, my hair care, my home décor, and etc. On my Asia Mmkay Plays YouTube gaming channel; currently I’m playing FLYFF (Fly For Fun) and the Sims 4. I’m debating if I’m going do Minecraft Mondays. I’m experimenting with a new series I call Me So Scared Sundays (MSSS). MSSS is when I play random scary games or fully length gameplays. If there are any othergame suggestions let me know. Lastly, my Asia Mmkay Cosplay YouTube channel I’ve been posting shorts that I create for my social media channels. I now started to post my tutorials and my how-to videos. I’m working on getting behind-the-scenes footage from all of my photo shoots, so you see what goes on behind the scenes. Then you can understand how photographers or myself get the beautiful shot. I have conventions lineup for 2023. I’m going to start doing a series of me recording what happens at a convention, because a lot of people don’t know what happens and how fun it really is. Another thing I want to bring to my YouTube channel is showing you all how I get ready for other events in a cosplay community, so we can have a chitchat. I might do a Twitch type of thing, but I’m not sure due to the fact that it’s live and I might slip up and say something crazy or it doesn’t make sense because I slur my words. As for my social media channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok, I’m going to try to put more focus on short videos. It looks like that’s what social media is trying to work towards. I have a love for taking pictures and posting pictures, but right now I had to do was best and keep up with the time. So, I will put more focus on making short videos in a chorus. Post some pictures as well. I want to thank you whoever took the time to read this blog post about the upcoming changes I have in my life my website my YouTube channels in my social media platforms. I hope that you all learn something at least and have fun along this journey.
