You're a Mean One... Ms. Grinch

I bought some Grinch items and I did a review on my YouTube channel. Check it out! I went ahead and found a green straight wig off of Amazon and I washed it and conditioned it afterwards. I straighten it with my flat iron, because I have a theory it makes synthetic hair manageable. Then afterwards I debated if I was going to curl the green wig or leave it straight, but I decided to leave it straight. The wig can not hold a curl. I was fine with it, because the Grinch’s hair is straight. If I was gonna go for curly look, I should’ve gotten like a textured green wig, which I thought about after the fact. When I do the Grinch later, I’m going to go that route, so stay tune for my next Grinch cosplay next.

Next, on the docket... There was a bunch of Grinch prosthetics on Etsy. However, the prosthetics that had the full Grinch face they were sold out at the time. I bought my prosthetic back in October, which was bad timing, because everyone was probably buying their Halloween costumes, so that was a mistake on my part. However, I was able to find a face prosthetic that gave me that signature who from Whoville nose. I decided I’ll just get green face paint to paint my actual face and paint the prosthetic to blend in with the make up my body.

I decided to go with Morphe cosmetics for my body paint. I decided to get a green, dark green, and yellow body paint from Morphe. I started with the lighter green and used a flat brush, wetting the brush, and then rubbing the brush in the paint. Once the paint was activated I proceeded to paint my face. The yellow and dark green face paints are cream paints. In order to do my contour and my highlight, the yellow and the green face paints were my best options. I use the cream once I decide to go with the cream-based, because I wanted to blend my contour and highlight the best way possible I strongly believe the other paint would’ve been easy to blend for me, because I’m not a body paint professional. I blended out the harsh lines with a small blending makeup brush.

Next thing I got from Amazon were green fur pants for my grinch bottoms. It was easy to find. The only thing I don’t like is that the bottom of the pants has white fur I wish it was green all the way down to the bottom. The waistband is very stretchy. However, I got a size medium, so if I ever gained weight, I have no room left to grow in the pants have a inner lining that doesn’t make the pants really stretchy.

I also found the Grinch hands from Amazon in there one size fits all and I fit the gloves perfectly. The fur hands matched the fur on the pants amazingly. I was worried at first, because they were from two different companies.

With my Grinch cosplay one thing I was debating was making Grinch, sexy or goofy, or like the movie. I didn’t know which direction to take, but I didn’t see a lot of sexy cosplays, so I decided to go with a sexy version. I went back on Amazon and found a cute Santa outfit for women. Unfortunately, the material is not as stretchy as I want it to be. I got a small/medium size based off of the suggestion the Amazon app gave me, which is fine (I guess). However, I know that if I ever gain weight in the future I definitely will not be able to fit that Santa outfit comfortably.

As for my shoot, I normally go to a photographer to capture my cosplay. Whatever, since I’m just getting settled with my job situation and other other matters I decided to take my own photos. When I take my photos I use my iPhone and I used the back camera, because it’s the most clearest picture. I did not have my personal ring light that I normally use, because it’s in storage right now, So, I had to use a different ring light that has a bright/cooler tone. Side note, when I use my personal ring light, I like to use warmer tones, because I like the way it makes my skin glow. With the light I used, in order to not have the harsh light, I faced the light to the wall. I do this to make the light bounce off the wall and give a subtle glow. I try to get my lighting as good as possible, because lighting makes your life easier in Photoshop.

All and all I’m very satisfied with this current cosplay. I know some people may disagree with being a sexy Grinch, but I’m content with it. I always try to put a twist on any cosplay that I do. I feel like my Grinch was tastefully done, a definite look forward to doing a Grinch cosplay again. Of course, I want to change something else when I do it it could either be my hair the color of my cosplay the outfit who knows. I’m definitely forward to trying another Grinch version in the future. I hope that you like it if you want to watch my review of the Grinch items that I used the make up tutorial and a hair tutorial. Please feel free to watch my YouTube channel! I make sure to make my videos easy to understand. As always, if you have any suggestions or any constructive criticism, I will greatly appreciate that.

Toodles!
