Blossom was an experiment. Mainly because the wig I bought. I typically use wigs that I already own for my cosplays. I was taking a risk with Blossom’s wig that I got from Amazon. When I bought red wigs in the past, it wasn’t really the red that I expected. Luckily, when this wig came I was relieved when I tried it on, because the color looked gorgeous. I must say the wig is very soft. I did not expect this kind of softness from a wig that costed 40/50 bucks. I was very pleased with the wig, because it barely tangled, which was a concern because I had to put the hair in a high ponytail. Later, I realized the soft hair could pose as a problem, because I was afraid that the ponytail wouldn’t last due to how soft it was. However, I was able to combat the softness with hairspray. So, if you have hairspray, spritzer, or Got To Be Glue spray it definitely helped toughen up the hair.
For the make up look, I wanted to do a variety of reds, but definitely not bright reds. I wanted to make sure to avoid bright reds, because I didn’t want my eyelids to be too bright due to the contacts. The contacts I got was a bright red from Lensweets (get your discount on the Discount section of the website). If I did bright eyeshadow with the loud contacts I wore, they are going to clash together. For my eye look, I got some ideas from somebody’s Instagram post. I screenshot the look. While I was doing the makeup I couldn’t mirror it exactly, but at least I had a blueprint of what I wanted to do. I was pretty satisfied with that. Some people know this about me, but I want to give a reminder that I don’t like eyeliner. It’s difficult to get off, so on my bottom lash line I put red eyeshadow. After I contoured and highlighted my face, I did something controversial. I didn’t have my blushes. I had a variety of pink, orange, and brown. I don’t know where they are, but I thought I packed up before I went down south for a little while. I don’t know where they are till this day. I was on a time crunch, so I had to use my eyeshadows in my Urban Decay palette to create a blush on my cheeks after I contour to my face. I couldn’t find my other lipsticks and lip glosses either. I had so many colors. I probably threw them away as well. I did something else that’s probably controversial. I put on carmax on my lips. I took my finger and rubbed my finger on the glittery, reddish pink eyeshadow palette and applied it on my lips. It was a pretty color. I was impressed
As for the outfits, Blossom is red in the Powerpuff Girl. I know characters inside the Star Wars world that has light red associated with the color/outfit black. Therefore, I thought a black outfit would be perfect for Blossom’s Star Wars and Powerpuff Girls project combo. As for the reels, I closet cosplayed for her as well. I owned a burgundy wrap dress that I always loved. Blossom has a bow on top of her head and I used a silky scarf that complimented the dress. For the reels I just wanted to have a casual outfit. I decided to create reels from the funny moments in the Powerpuff Girls show and one of my favorite movies, Mean Girls.
Lastly, I need to talk about the red-light saber. Unfortunately, the red-light saber did the same thing like the other two. It was not as bright as I hoped. I had to use the photographers light stick again to change it to red, so we can use it for Blossom’s Star Wars look. It was kind of frustrating process, but we couldn’t be frustrated for too long because his made up light stick worked so perfectly. Once you see the photos after the edits; it worked so well. I will post to the website. I think you’ll really appreciate my idea.
